This is a Cointreau bottle bomb from the 2004 WWII thriller Valkyrie. This piece was created especially for the tense early scene where two German officers rig a Cointreau bottle with a false bottom containing a bomb intended to kill Hitler.
The bottle is made of green glass and features authentic French Cointreau labeling on front and back as well as a silver topped cork. Inside the bottle at top is a black plastic piece which has been glued in to conceal the devices contained in the bottom. The bottom of the bottle has been cut to be easily removed and contains two fake explosive devices made of metal. The rectangular devices have a small cutout with two tiny holes, which pins were placed inside for activation, and an attached metal clip that sits over the cutout.
The bottle and it’s contents are in very good condition with small bits of glue still remaining on the bottle and bottom from production use. Each rectangular device measures 5” x 3” (13cm x 8cm), the bottle measures 10” x 4” (25cm x 10cm).
